The city of Barrie in central Ontario is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The city was named after the British Admiral Sir Robert Barrie, in honor of his contribution, during the war of 1812. During winter, ice blocks were cut from frozen waters of Kempenfelt Bay and shipped to Toronto and New York for use in preserving perishable commodities. This boat festival in its 16th edition is supported by various sponsors. It is packed with lots of family-friendly stuff such as races, health spots, open circus, and other exciting kid’s activities. Members can normally register for a $ 1000 rate, and choose a team of 20 paddlers to one boat. The $500 pledged by all teams goes to a charity of their choice. The festival usually takes place from mid-May up to the end of August.
